Pile dwellings, wooden houses, and similar structures are treated with preservatives to prevent rotting. These preservatives can include chemicals such as creosote, pentachlorophenol, or copper compounds, which inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria that cause decay. Additionally, proper construction techniques, such as ensuring good ventilation and drainage, can help prevent moisture buildup that can lead to rot. Regular maintenance, such as painting or staining, can also help protect the wood from the elements and extend its lifespan. **

While the super-rich may have access to elaborate underground bunkers and shelters, it is unlikely that they would be able to survive a thermonuclear world war unscathed. The devastation caused by such a catastrophic event would likely have far-reaching consequences, including widespread destruction, radiation exposure, and potential societal collapse. Even the most well-equipped bunkers may not be able to protect against the full extent of the aftermath of a thermonuclear war. Ultimately, the super-rich would likely face significant challenges in surviving such a catastrophic event, despite their resources. **
